Tucson, Arizona - The 1st annual U CAN BID .COM Western Lifestyle Photography Contest was a hit! A big thanks to all the participants who entered their "Western" images through the Ramirez Auction Service Inc Facebook account. The world voted for their favorite...drum roll please! CONGRATULATIONS to this years winner Brody McGuire who was also kind enough to fill out our proust questionaire.

Full Name: Brody McGuire

Hometown: Buckeye, AZ

Company/Business/Job: Agricultural Instructor and FFA Advisor at Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center- Estrella Mountain campus. I am also a contract auctioneer.

What speaks “Western” about this photo? What organization are you donating the $250 to and why?

This photo speaks "Western" on multiple fronts. It was taken at my grandfathers ranch in Buckeye, AZ. He was a true Arizona cowboy through and through. He owned and operated White Tank Meats for 35 years which is featured in the background. The flag out front has been flown for many years as he was a true patriot. We decided to fly it at half mass after he passed a couple of years ago and this photo was taken the day after he passed. He was an accomplished rodeo athlete and renowned animal trainer and has had his animals featured in various movies over the course of his life. He was an advocate for individuals in the agriculture industry and knowing that I would like to donate this money to the Arizona National Livestock Show Scholarship Fund. I was a recipient of this scholarship several times and have a true passion for the show. I know he would want others to have the same appreciation for the animal industry, which is why I would like to donate to ANLS.

What did you want to be when you grew up and what is your Education/Training?

Growing up in an agriculture setting (my mom drove a tractor until she was 8 months pregnant with me), I knew I wanted to be involved in agriculture. In high school I developed my passion for teaching and went into the Agriculture Education Program at the University of Arizona. I guess I always knew I wanted to make a positive impact on the future in agriculture which led me to becoming and agriculture instructor.

Which living person do you most admire?

I have a bunch of people that I admire. First would have to be my wife. She continues to inspire me every day with her passion for helping others. I admire my grandparents (my mom's father). He is the one who got me connected into the auction community with his relationship with John Cadzow. Even though he is in his 80's now, he still goes out to his shop every day and is tinkering with something!

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is letting people down. I have had my fair share of ups and downs just like everyone but I am working harder each day to be better at that. (I'm also not very fond of heights)

What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession is probably a 1947 record of my great grandfather performing square dance calling (he is in the Prescott Hall of Fame for it) everything else I own can be replaced but that can't. It reminds me of an auction chant and makes me think it was in my blood to go into that field.

This is a great statement because Auctions do work! I can tell first hand of my experiences in the auction industry and it is a great way to effectively, efficiently and transparently liquidate assets. We are determining true market value for that item at that exact moment in time with buyers and sellers both! What a great statement!

Comments From Our Clients

  • Paul Ramirez was our auctioneer for the Tucson Wildlife Center "Rejoice Dinner" fund raiser in Jan 2012. We were very fortunate to have Paul as he significantly increased our auction proceeds far above expectations. He is a very creative auctioneer and suggested several unique ways to present our candidate offerings. Paul is engaging and knows how to motivate potential bidders. His enthusiasm and humor energizes the audience. Because of Paul's excellent presentation of our auction items we believe we achieved about three times the revenue that we had anticipated. All of the attendees enjoyed the auction as the highlight of the evening. We were so pleased that we have scheduled Paul again for our 2013 event.
    M. Lisa Bates, MS, Executive Director, Tucson Wildlife Center, Inc.

  • Paul Ramirez and the Charity Auction Team are TROT's "secret weapon" when it comes to our event fundraising efforts! Paul's professional expertise, his auction style, and his rapport with the crowd are a perfect fit for our organization - his auctions are fun and produce fabulous results for our charity. Paul knows his business and willingly shares ideas to help us maximize the proceeds from our events. Many children with special needs from the Tucson community have directly benefited from the funds raised by Ramirez Auction Services and we are grateful for their supportive, professional assistance. I highly recommend the Ramirez Auction Services to any nonprofit organization that wants a good outcome at their events!
Leslie Esselburn, Executive Director Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT)

  • Paul has been auctioneer several times when I have donated a large original painting to a charity event. No one does a better job auctioning my work then he does. Paul does his homework, knows his audience, has good knowledge of the items he's auctioning, and says just the right thing to elicit the highest bid. I am always thrilled when I see he is the auctioneer.
